I may not be a fan of John Legend, besides "Heaven," but congratulations are in order.
After ten weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Pharrell’s “Happy” was dethroned by R&B crooner John Legend’s “All Of Me.” In what Billboard calls one of the tightest finishes ever, Legend’s piano ballad beats the world’s happiest song by .009 percent to take the throne.
“#1!!!!!!!! Thank you!!” a happy Legend tweeted.
“All Of Me,” lifted from Legend’s August 2013 album, Love In The Future, spent six weeks at #2 before finally topping “Happy,” giving the singer, songwriter his first #1, a decade after his debut.
The significant moves, is now the third-longest climb to #1 in the chart’s 55-year history.
Ariana Grande makes at strong debut at no. 3 with her hot new single “Problem,” which features rapper Iggy Azalea. “Problem” marks her highest charting, beating out her previous hit single “The Way,” which notched at no. 9.
According to Billboard:
"Problem" earns the eighth-largest debut ever for a download, as it starts at No. 1 on Digital Songs with 438,000 sold. It's also the biggest arrival for a song this year, and the best sum since Katy Perry's "Roar" debuted with 557,000 (Aug. 31, 2013).
Last, but certainly not least--five years after his death, Michael Jackson returns to the Hot 100 with “Love Never Felt So Good” featuring Justin Timberlake. The first single off his posthumous album Xscape debuts at No. 20, selling 80,000 downloads after only three days on sale.
